Babina Noko concludes the 2022/23 campaign top 8

Sekhukhune United manage to collect maximum points at home in the 2022/23 DStv Premiership final match of the season following a hard-fought 1-0 win over SuperSport United on Saturday afternoon at The New Peter Mokaba Stadium.

The victory guarantees Babina Noko of a Top 8 finish and participation in the MTN 8 wafa wafa competition in the new season.

The game got off to a rather slow start with neither team able to create any noteworthy chances at goal. However, the visitors were the stronger outfit and stroked the ball around with authority.

The home team’s chances were presented to Elias Mokwana and Chubike Ohizu whose shots at goal were kept out by Ricardo Goss.

Supersport United FC had opportunities of their own but was not able to make an impact on the scoresheet.

Sekhukhune United broke the deadlock in the 19th minute through a set-piece situation by Thamsanqa Masiya with a cross played into the area, Edwin Gyimah was on hand to give Babina Noko the lead through a well-guided header.

SuperSport United was unable to find an equalizer going into halftime.

Matsatsantsa a Pitori continued to pile on the pressure in the second half while Babina Noko sat deep defending a slender lead.

Supersport United played the majority of their football inside the host’s half, however, Edwin Gyimah and Daniel Cardoso’s combinations at the back showcased stellar defending in keeping the visitors at bay.
