Orlando Pirates and Sekhukhune United FC shared the spoils in the DStv Premiership encounter, recording a 1-1 draw at the Orlando Stadium, Soweto on Saturday afternoon.
The Buccaneers enjoyed dominance in possession in the first few minutes of the half but were unable to make that count, with Babina Noko limiting goal-scoring opportunities.
Babina Noko attempted to get into the game with slick build-up play from the back but enjoyed few goalscoring opportunities.
The host was rewarded in the 31st minute when Terrence Dzvukamanja found the breakthrough with a diving header after a well-weighted cross from Monnapule Saleng.
However, the Pirates’ lead lasted just seven minutes as Edwin Gyimah equalized shortly before the halftime whistle.
The Buccaneers piled the pressure on the visitors at the beginning of the second half and but the visitor’s defence remained solid.
Babina Noko seemed to take a more cautious approach with 10 minutes left on the clock while searching for a goal on the break.
As the game reached its conclusion the scores remained deadlocked at one goal apiece as Sekhukhune and Pirates shared the spoils at the Orlando Stadium.
The two teams will compete in the Nedbank Cup final set to take place at the iconic Loftus Versfeld Stadium on the 27th of May 2023.
