Sekhukhune United FC manages to snatch victory over Bizana Pondo Chiefs in their GladAfrica Championship clash at a wet Makhulong Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
Having collected an away point in their first-round opener, at King Zwelithini Stadium Babina Noko was looking to go for all three on home soil.
The intent was clear from the go, for Bizana Pondo chiefs who parked the bus from the first half of the opening minutes which makes it is almost impossible for Sekhukhune United FC to score.
Babina Noko was dominating possession earlier on, camping inside the visitors’ half for the best part of the opening exchanges.
Reward almost fell to Thabo Motlafi who had a clear chance to go for goal from close range in the 5th minute but the ball going slightly over the crossbar.
Tlotlo Leepile and Sonwabile Mfecane’s combination were causing trouble for the visitors in the midfield of the park.
After clear dominance from the hosts in the first 45 minutes, the second half was a lot more balanced, with Babina Noko getting a few more chances in their pursuit for goals.
77 minutes after the break, W. Bophela wins a free kick for Babina Noko in a promising position, Walter Musona takes it and his short sail over the bars
In the dying minutes of the game,Babina Noko had reason to celebrate as McClive Phiri scored a late winner for Sekhukhune United FC against “We Hunt to Kill” in Tembisa
The results leave SKUFC and Richards Bay FC as pace setters in the GladAfrica Championship following their respective matches on Wednesday
