Babina Noko complete a double over AmakhosI

Sekhukhune United Football Club’s first-half goal was enough to claim a 1-0 win over Kaizer Chiefs in the DStv Premiership encounter on Sunday afternoon at The New Peter Mokaba Stadium, in Polokwane.

The victory gave Babina Noko a back-to-back victory over the Glamour Boys, in the 2022/23 season. The breakthrough came in the 3rd minute through a well-taken shot by Sammy Seabi.

The early lead gave the home team the confidence to possess the ball better. Amakhosi attempted to get an equalizer, however, Babina Noko kept the visitors at bay.

At the half-hour mark, Babina Noko was on the front foot and forced their opponents to concede a couple of set-piece opportunities, which were unpunished. Sekhukhune United FC went into the break with a slender 1-0 lead.

Babina Noko got the second half off with a bang and manufactured several goal-scoring opportunities from the outset, with Mncube’s thunderous shot forcing a good save from Pietersen. The momentum swung in favor of the visitors, forcing the home team to be cautious, under extreme pressure. Keagan Dolly gave Kaizer Chiefs the best opportunity of the half, which was well saved by Badra Sangare.

The epic fixture which was watched by an estimated crowd of 21 000 finished 1-0 in favor of Babina Noko, who claimed another crucial three points in the hunt for a top-eight spot.
