Babina Noko held at home

Sekhukhune United Football Club managed to come back from behind to hold Mamelodi Sundowns FC to a 1-1 draw at home in the DStv Premiership at New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Saturday afternoon.

The game started at a high tempo, with neither team able to break the deadlock, the visitors applied pressure and created better chances without success.

It was an eventful first half served up by a neat build-up play down the right which allowed Peter Shalulile to deliver a whipped cross inside Babina Noko ’s box through a ball by Aubrey Modiba, in the 17th minute but the goal was disallowed for offside.

Shalulile eventually broke the deadlock on the stroke of halftime with a finish of his thigh after a cross by Gaston Sirino.

Babina Noko was trying their best to get an equalizer but the Brazilian’s defense remained alert. 46th minute into the second half; chances continue to come for the home team but they were yet to find the net.

Babina Noko quickly found the equaliser within a minute from the break after Linda Mntambo guided a first-time shot over shot-stopper Ronwen Williams towards the top corner after a through ball by Tshegofatso Mabasa.

Babina Noko dropped down to the 10th spot with five points in the DStv Premiership Log standings while Masandawana is in fifth with seven points.

Both teams will return to action next week. Masandawana are hosting Stellenbosch FC at home while Sekhukhune United FC will be travelling to Soweto to face off against Swallows FC at Dobsonville Stadium ,19:30
