- You have played 10 games to this end. (You have achieved 6 wins;3 Loses and 1 draw) since you started as the Head Coach are you happy with your team’s performance thus far?
Brandon Truter: “The performance of the team is getting better and better, and ‘am quite impressed with the progress that the team has made thus far, but I would have preferred 8/10, because of the quality we possess in this team, not quality in terms of football, but quality in terms of learning and progressive, and also individuals that are humble and open to new ideas, so there’s nothing much that I can complain about except for the results, but I can’t fault the players for the effort, for being open-minded and also for giving input into the training session, right now our focus is into our sessions and the guys are responding magnificently “
- Do you think the FIFA World Cup break has helped you to turn the table around taking into consideration that the team has been struggling to attain maximum points before the FIFA World Cup Break?
Brandon Truter: ”Jaa obviously,..me coming in at that time gave me some time to work with the guys, getting to know the guys, also getting to know them both football wise on the pitch and off the pitch, I think that’s were it’s important for players and coaches, I need to know what makes them tick and also the technical changes, the playing style, the formation, the agreement and the principles, and some principles of the playing modules has to be installed, The FIFA World Cup break gave us the perfect opportunity and right now it’s still a work in progress, I still think we can get better, so it’s not the finished product yet, but so far am happy“.
- Are you satisfied with the way the players are responding to your tactics and any area that requires your attention?
Brandon Truter: “Here and there ..there can be an improvement, especially on decision-making on the ball but my biggest concern at this stage is the scoring of goals, we have managed to keep a couple of clean sheets, so the defense is capable of grinding out that clean sheet and the fewer opponents score against us the more chances we have of winning the game, but if we don’t score also,…Jaa, the chances are minimized, but definitely an area we need to work on, it’s on finishing and scoring, and also our box entrance, but our position of the ball is getting better…. but here and there is awareness and individual tactics can make us improve”
- Sekhukhune United is back in action on Saturday and you will be playing against Royal AM, how is the preparation going to this end and how are you going to approach this forthcoming game?
Brandon Truter: luckily (thankfully)we have a full squad available for selection… of course, some guys are knocking heavily on the door, some guys that sit outside who are training very hard just to get into match day squad, players that have quality and intensity, as a coach I can’t ask for more, right now everybody is ready to go, and preparations have been good, mmm ..Royal AM at home is not an easy team to play against, but also taking into considerations that our last results against Cape Town City FC, we would have loved to take all three points, but going to KwaZulu Natal Chatsworth stadium.. it is going to be tough and we have to be selective, really analytic about our approach and also be tactically aware on the day, but our preparations so far so good, because we had few more days to prepare for this game”
- Are you planning to finish with the top 8 or any comfortable position?
Brandon Truter: ”Mathematically we can still finish in the top 4, and yes our objective is the top 8 considering where we come from, we have managed to turn the corner, which has brought up some confidence and belief….and I can see it in the team, right now is the team that wants to win every game, it’s a team that is confidents about making it to the Top 8 but Jaa we don’t want to put ourselves under pressure but Top 4 position is definitely achievable”.
- What can supporters expect from the team going forward?
Brandon Truter: “think the brand of football we are playing at the moment is a very good brand of football, and the support is growing from game to game, and I think the supporters are enjoying at the moment …, right now the results are a bit inconsistent for our supporters. we would like to win every game, but we are noticing their support and the fact that the numbers are growing at our home games we absolutely appreciate it and we appreciate them as well, we could hear them getting behind us on every other game… we would want to do it for them, and I just want to urge them to keep on supporting us. The guys (Players) are giving it their all and they want to win every game for our supporters but am grateful, Thanks to them, we want to win our next game and the rest of the games for this season for them”
- Thank you so much Coach “Brakies”
Brandon Truter:” Ha ha ha …thanks to you
