A Crucial Win for Babina Noko at Wits Football Stadium
An improved performance gave Sekhukhune United Football Club (SKUFC) an important 1 – 2 win over Pretoria Callies in their GladAfrica Championship action at Wits Football Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
Before this victory, Babina Noko had gone 6 games without a win and only scored 3 times. This win takes SKUFC to 4th position with 41 points in 27 matches.
It was the visiting side who were the quickest off the blocks, enjoying most of the ball possession, with numerous attacks to the host.
The first real chance came in the 12th minute when Jabu Maluleke set up Victor Ohizu who missed the target.
It took half-hour for the visitors to make the breakthrough, and it was Sonwabile Mfecane who scored his first goal in the 42nd minute of the game.
Pogiso Mahlangu found a net in the 56th minute for the host, after a wonderful counter.
It was an open game, with both teams attacking each other with regularity. In the end, it was Madonsela who scored the crucial winner in the 83rd minute, for the Babina Noko.
