Royal AM vs Sekhukhune United FC

Sekhukhune United FC returns with a point from KwaZulu Natal Province after a highly physical 0-0 draw against Royal AM at the Chatsworth Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

Babina Noko went into the clash having relinquished the top spot in the GladAfrica Championship table.

Wednesday’s matches proved more cagey with all four matches on the day ending in draws.

As a result, SKUFC is on top of the log with 35 points after 19 games only on goal difference over Richards Bay who are in the second position on the log.

Babina Noko started the game brightly and the early pressure almost paid off as early as the second minute as Siyabulela Shai won a free kick in a promising position, however, his attempt was saved by Royal AM’s keeper Patrick Nyame. Katlego Cwinyane had an opportunity to grab the lead after a great pass in the box but his header went over the crossbar.

Tapuwa Kapini was called on duty as he had to make two quick saves in a space of two minutes, one from a free-kick by Sibusiso Ncanana the other from Mzwandile Dlamini.

On the stroke of halftime, Babina Noko was knocking on Royal AM’s door as chances continued to come without success.

Sello Motsepe was doing an amazing job at the back, keeping the home team at bay, with a great defensive display.

Defender Pentjie Zulu (31)  made his debut for Babina Noko, he was introduced as a sub in the 77th Minute as he replaced Nkanyiso Madonsela.

In the end, both teams had to settle for a draw.

SKUFC’s next game will be at home against Cape Town Spurs on the 11th of April 2021. Starting XI: Kapini (GK)(C), Phiri, Madonsela(77’Zulu), Motsepe, Mbonani (80’Gould), Sibanyoni(77’Zulu), Maart, Awono, Cwinyane, Kobela (B. Dlamini), Shai.
