Two second-half goals handed Sekhukhune United Football Club a vital 2-0 over Cape Town All-Stars at Makhulong Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Resuming their league campaign after a FIFA break, Babina Noko went in looking to maintain touching distance on the top three, this win took Babina Noko team to the top league standings by 2 points.
The opening first 45 minutes saw the visitors taking the game to the host, without success. It was a good defensive display from Babina Noko that kept the visitors at bay.
The second half was a lot more balanced, with Cape Town All Stars getting a few more chances in their pursuit for goals, but it was Macdonald Makhubedu ‘s men who were asking more questions this time around. A Chance fell to Katlego Cwinyane in the 52nd Minute who was played in by Thabang Kobela but he, unfortunately, failed to connect the inviting cross. It was Cwinyane again, set up by Shai, whose header hit a crossbar.
An opening goal was calmly slotted by Thabang Sibanyoni in the 63rd minute, after a good run by Cwinyane. We had to wait till the 85th minute for the second goal for Babina Noko with a great close-range finish by Cwinyane.
It was a lovely end to a pulsating match, with Babina Noko 2 – 0 victors.
During the post-match interview, Babina Noko Coach, MacDonald Makhubedu revealed that it was always going to be tough to play against Cape Town All Stars because they have a good team.
He further revealed that the second half was about who wants it more. However, he’s relieved that SKUFC managed to collect maximum points.
