Sekhukhune Secure second DSTV premiership league Win at home

Sekhukhune United displayed great character in their home league fixture of the 2022/23 season, claiming a 2-0 victory over Orlando Pirates at The New Peter Mokaba Stadium on Tuesday evening.

It was Sekhukhune United’s second victory in the 2022/23 season.

There was no sign of slowing down for The Buccaneers in the 1st half with Zakhele Lepasa getting a chance to give the visitors an early lead after a good cross by Paseka Mako but his shot went over the crossbar.

After managing to absorb the early pressure Babina Noko managed to get a chance in the 17th minute after Edwin Gyimah guided his header from close range over the crossbar.

In the 58th minute of the second half Pirates were reduced to ten men after Thabiso Monyane picked up a second yellow card for a foul on Vusimuzi Mncube.

With Babina Noko pushing for an opener, substitute Elias Mokwana eventually broke the deadlock with the assist from Linda Mntambo.

A press from Vusimuzi Mncube resulted in an error from the Pirate’s keeper, allowing the former to slot home in an empty net from distance to seal Babina Noko ‘s first win over The Buccaneers.

In the end, Babina Noko was able to secure a clean sheet victory together with the second maximum points of the season.
