Sekhukhune United FC and Lamontville Golden Arrows played to a 0-0 draw in the DStv Premiership match at Princess Magogo Stadium, Kwamashu on Sunday afternoon.
Both teams started the game on a high pace with Golden Arrows having more of the ball during the early stages of the game, however, Babina Noko looked comfortable in sitting back and soaking up pressure.
Abafa Besthende continued to be a more progressive side in the 20th minute as they rolled out a couple of goal-scoring opportunities in the process. Babina Noko’s defence remained resolute and warded off many of Arrows’ attempts at goal.
As the second half commenced, most of the football was played in the middle of the park with neither goalkeeper being troubled for much of the half.
Sekhukhune United was penned to the confinement of their box for large parts during the match’s closing stages as Arrows remained relentless in the search for an opening.
Babina Noko finally tested Sifiso Mlungwana with a shot, which he made a comfortable save when Chibuike Ohizu found space on the edge of the area.
In the end, the two teams shared the spoils. The result stretches Babina Noko’s winless run to four league matches, and in 9th position on the league standings with 29 points.
Sekhukhune United FC will return to DStv Premiership action on Saturday 8th April, when Maritzburg United FC will be hosted at The New Peter Mokaba Stadium, Polokwane Kick-off scheduled for 17h30.
