Sekhukhune United FC vs Jomo cosmos

Sekhukhune United Football Club (SKUFC) missed out on the chance to go to the top of the GladAfrica Championship log, losing 1-0 at home to Jomo Cosmos on Sunday in one of seven matches played in South Africa’s second-tier league this weekend.

SKUFC could have leapfrogged to first place with a win at the Makhulong Stadium, but instead, they succumbed to a crushing loss to Ezenkosi thanks to former Mamelodi Sundowns player Seun Ledwaba who scored the only goal in the match.

Babina Noko who had the home ground advantage started the game positively and was a threat to the visitors, till they conceded a goal in the 39th minute of the game. It proved to be the only goal of the game, and it meant Ezenkosi left Makhulong with all 3 points.

Babina Noko had to play with only ten men on the field after Yusuf Maart received a second bookable offence in the 54th minute of the match, resulting in a red card. It was the first red card for the club this season.

There were a host of chances that fell on the home team, unfortunately, it was not meant to be.

This victory moves the visitors to 8th place on the GladAfrica Championship log with 33 points and relegates the home team to 4th position with a total of 36 points.

SKUFC will battle with Richards Bay FC in a top-of-the-log GladAfrica Championship clash at Umhlathuze Sports Complex on Sunday Starting XI: Dlamini (GK), Phiri, Zulu(77’Nxumalo), Motsepe, Leepile(70’Makgoga), Ohizu(41’Shai), Maart © (54’Red Card), Awono, Mfecane(41’Kobela), Cwinyane(70’Hlongo), Sibanyoni
