Sekhukhune United Secure 7th DSTV premiership league Win

Sekhukhune United FC displayed great character in the DSTV Premiership fixture to claim a 2-0 victory over Richards Bay FC at The New Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday evening.

The victory moved Babina Noko up to the sixth spot on the league standings with 27 points from 20 games while The Natal Rich Boyz remains in fourth place.

Babina Noko started the game on the front foot and hit the target in the 6th minute through a powerful low drive from Pogiso Mahlangu who forced The Natal Rich Boyz goalkeeper Salim Magoola into a good save.

There was no sign of slowing down for Babina Noko in the 1st half, Victor Letsoalo created a chance for Chibuike Ohizu to shoot after an error at the back by the visitors’ defense but he was unlucky. Sammy Seabi followed up with an opportunity with his left foot which went just wide of the far post. It was all level going into the break.

Elias Mokwana came in as one of Babina Noko ‘s halftime changes and his impact was felt almost immediately. The game’s first goal came through a wonderful cross by Nyiko Mobbie which found Pogiso Mahlangu in the far post, who slotted in comfortably.

With The Natal Rich Boyz pushing for an equalizer, Edwin Gyimah was at his best intercepting all dangerous balls in the Babina Noko’s box.

Sekhukhune United FC doubled the lead in the 51st  minute through a well-taken finish by Ohizu.

Babina Noko controlled the tempo and enjoyed more possession, but the visitors’ s defense maintained its shape, depriving of clear-cut chances.
