Sekhukhune United and Cape Town City played to a 0-0 draw in a 2022-23 DStv Premiership match at Athlone Stadium, Cape Town on Tuesday evening.
The Citizens were forceful in the early stages as Fidele Ambina came close to opening the scoring on 17 minutes with a cracking strike from just outside the visitors’ s box that flashed narrowly wide.
Tshegofatso Mabasa and Victor Letsoalo both tried their luck from distance, but neither failed to test the goalkeeper at either end of the pitch.
Chances continue to come for Babina Noko, but they were not using them wisely, 49 minutes into the second half Mabasa set up Siyabulela Shai inside The Citizens’ box but his shot was not converted.
Darwin Gonzales succeeded in locating Taariq Fielies who makes a good cross but it was blocked by Babina Noko’s defence. The game continued to open up deep in the first stanza but clear openings remained elusive, with the likes of Mabasa and Siyabulela Shai threatening for Babina Noko.
The Tempo of the game was high towards the end, and both teams were looking to steal all three points but chances were hard to come by, with Nunez going closest with a wayward strike from just inside the box.
