Babina Noko stumbles to another home loss

Sekhukhune United Football Club stumbled at home where they suffered a 2-0 loss at the hands of Mamelodi Sundowns at Emirates Airline Park Johannesburg on Tuesday evening in the 2021/22 DStv Premiership season.

Babina Noko went into the clash desperate for a win, having failed to achieve any victory in their last seven league games.  Looking to turn the fortunes around, Babina Noko went into the game with the hope of causing an upset against the champions-elect.  However, the game produced a disappointing outcome for the home team.

Five minutes in the first half Sekhukhune United showcased that they have one of the most impressive defensive records in the DStv Premiership as they managed to stifle a couple of the Sundowns’ attacks.

Masandawana took the lead in the 27th minute of the game, courtesy of a stunner from Aubrey Modiba.

The hosts responded with a change for the final 30 minutes as Nkanyiso Madonsela made way for Kamohelo Sithole as they went in search of an equalizer but it wasn’t easy for them to find the net.

After numerous attempts, Shalulile finally managed to get his 22nd league goal of the season during the dying minutes of the game.

Masandawana has now pulled twelve points clear at the top of the DStv Premiership with 61 points from 27 games.

There was nothing to celebrate from Babina Noko camp as they have suffered their sixth DSTV premiership League defeat at home.

Sundowns successfully saw out the remainder of the fixture to walk away with all three points.

Sekhukhune United FC will be traveling to Durban in DStv Premiership action on Saturday evening 7th May where they will be visiting AmaZulu FC at Moses Mabhida Stadium at 17:00.
