Sekhukhune United Football Club will be back at home for their DSTV Premiership league action this Saturday afternoon, 14 May 2022.
They will be hosting Kaizer Chiefs FC at Emirates Airline Park in Johannesburg. The kick-off for this encounter is at 15h00.
A different test waits for Babina Noko, who returned from Durban with a point in their last league match after playing to a goalless draw against Amazulu FC last week Saturday at Moses Mabhida.
Babina Noko does not have a decent record against Soweto teams. They lost both games against Orlando Pirates, managed a win, and a defeat against Swallows FC, and also suffered 1st round defeat against Kaizer Chiefs.
With twelve DSTV league games in Emirates Airline Park Stadium under their belt, Babina Noko has managed to accumulate sixteen (16) points. Sekhukhune United F.C will continue where they left off in their previous away game. With a valuable three points on offer, both sides are expected to come out firing.
This is a second round encounter between Babina Noko and Amakhosi. Both teams last met on 12 December 2021, where Amakhosi accumulated maximum points courtesy of Nkosingiphile Ngcobo’s goal in the 25th minute and Phathutshedzo Nange’s goal in the 88th minute of the game.
The last time Babina Noko played at home was on the 3rd May 2022 when they suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of current DStv Premiership Champions Mamelodi Sundowns.
The last time Babina Noko managed to collect maximum points was on the 19th of February 2022 against Baroka FC. Eleven points separate the two teams in the DStv Premiership league Log standings. The home team is sitting in 10th position with 32 points from 28 matches, while Amakhosi are in 4th position with 43 points from the same number of games.
Babina Noko midfielder Willard Katsande indicated that it has been a good season considering that the team was participating in the elite league for the first time with a new squad. The last two games are vital for Sekhukhune United. However, the game that they are going to play at home is going to be very important to finish in a respectable position.
The team will give supporters something to enjoy during the off-season break, as they were not there during the beginning of the season due to Covid restrictions. However, the team has received their messages of support.
In the past three games, fans have been supportive especially in the game against Amazulu. They traveled all the way to Durban to provide the necessary support for the team. The atmosphere was terrific and we anticipate them to bring the very same atmosphere at home when we will be hosting Kaizer Chiefs.
The team knows that the second round of the season is tough but not only for Sekhukhune United but for other teams as everybody is playing to achieve a certain milestone at the end of the season.
Katsande concluded that as a new team, it was a good experience. The team has accumulated maximum points in the first round of the season and now they are consolidating points in the second round of the season.
