Sekhukhune United Football Club played to a 1-0 defeat at home against Marumo Gallants on Wednesday evening in their DStv Premiership match at Emirates Airline Park, Johannesburg.
Fresh off a 1- 0 victory away to SuperSport United, Babina Noko was looking to inflict more pain on the visitors who were reeling from being bowed out of the CAF Confederations Cup.
It was, however, the home side who had the first clear-cut opportunity of the match 7 minutes into the game, with Yusuf Maart going one-on-one with Marumo Gallants’ goalkeeper but his effort went straight into Washington Arubi’s arms.
Babina Noko enjoyed the better chances through the first half hour, with Tshidiso Patjie and Talent Chawapihwa combining well down the left.
A second-half strike from Joseph Malongoane, saw Bahlabane ba Ntwa claim a third win from their last four matches and rise to 12th place on the DStv Premiership league Log standings with 14 points.
The last notable chance on the dying minutes of the game went to the hosts, with Siyabulela Shai who won a free kick in a dangerous position and it was cleared by Marumo Gallants’ defense.
The hosts may have suffered a fifth loss of the campaign but remained in second place on the DStv Premiership league Log standings with 23 points. Babina Noko will be disappointed with the outcome of the game but have done enough producing decent attacks to suggest that they should have taken something more from the game.
