Patjie scores a late winner against Supersport United

Sekhukhune United put on a commanding performance to walk away with 3 points after defeating SuperSport United 0 – 1 at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Sunday afternoon in their DSTV Premiership Match.

Babina Noko were reduced to ten men in the 7th minute when Vusimuzi “Skheshe” Mncube was shown a straight red card by referee Victor Gomes for a dangerous tackle on Iqraam Rayners

In the 14th minute of the game, both teams were left with ten players on the field when Thalente Mbatha was given his marching orders for a challenge on Cheslyn Jampies.

Babina Noko’s first scoring chance came in the opening 10 minutes after Talent Chawapihwa‘s cross was received by Tshediso Patjie in the box who set up Pogiso Mahlangu but his shot went over the crossbar, it was all level at the break with the score at 0-0.

Matsatsantsa a Pitori dominated ball possession, the majority of the game.

Chances continued to present themselves for the home team which tested Babina Noko’s goalkeeper Toaster Nsabata but nothing came of them.

In the 71st minute, Thamasanqa Gabuza laid the ball off to Rayners on the left and he cut inside before firing a shot wide of the left-hand post.

Tshidiso Patjie’s late goal proved the difference between the two teams, moving Babina Noko to the second spot on the DSTV Premiership log with 23 points from 13 games while Matsatsantsa is sixth on 19 points from the same number of games.
