Sundowns too strong for Sekhukhune United

Sekhukhune United Football Club stumbled in Tshwane, where they suffered a 2-0 loss at the hands of Mamelodi Sundowns in wet and rainy conditions at ABSA Tuks Stadium on Saturday afternoon in the 2021/22 DSTV Premiership season.

Babina Noko went into the clash in high confidence after consecutive DStv Premiership victories, while Masandawana were winless in their last two league games.

The hosts were more dominant and used the tricky conditions effectively. Masandawana’s goals came from Neo Maema and Themba Zwane from the penalty spot.

Sekhukhune improved as the game went, coming close with Cheslyn Jampies powerful drive forcing a good save from Onyango in the 77th minute.

A glimmer of hope was presented when Dennis Onyango was shown a straight red card, after fouling Tshidiso Patjie in a goalscoring position. The visitors failed to capitalise on the opportunity.

The result drops Babina Noko to 5th position in the DSTV Premiership League Log standings with 20 points from 12 games.

XI: Nsabata; Jampies, Motsepe, Gyimah, Mobbie, De Jongh (Mncube 46′), Leepile (Parusnath 73′), Maart, Mahlangu (Chawapihwa 88′), Madonsela (Patjie 46′), Ohizu (Nxumalo 60′)
